Our philosophy: CHANGE THE DRIVE, NOT THE CAR
Welcome to our Dutch team. We developed an all-in-one electric drivetrain. We started its development in 2016. We engineered and build this strong electro drivetrain in the Netherlands, Europe.
This “powerhouse” was not for sale anywhere. We came up with the following:
“We throw away the engine, gearboxes and axles. We dismantle the whole fossil-oil drive system and put a clean electric drive system in its place, tailormade. Exactly where the old differentials were before. In 2 new lightweight axel-shafts, front and rear. So we provide you to use green electricity only, that’s actually a huge CO2 saving of almost 100 per cent every mile. All pollutants released during combustion for driving are history.
High efficiency is the reason for this construction. 93% efficiency and by far the most interesting in costs to convert to electric.
In a 4×4 car this is much easier to install than in a passenger car we discovered. And the pollution per km/mile for a 4×4 is 3x higher than in a passenger car. So the impact is much bigger to spare the world. It is faster & cheaper to convert 1,000 4×4 cars than 3,000 passenger cars for the same result right? And in a 4×4 car you also have much more space to put in the battery needed for a long drive time, at least 400km/250miles at least was our target. And we succeeded in this
e-Rovers developed an electric-drive system. The 4×4 car instantly feels like 280 bhp (double-horsepower). All converting work is done within 3 days and it is done in your own garage/shop around the corner (important to know). The curb-weight remains the same, having a lower centre of gravity it gives a better handling as a bonus. And selective high and low gear, as you have been used to for years.

Above in blue the 7th test motor mounted in a safety rack for demolition during test benching. After 260 hours of testing 25% above the calculated strength, without any wear and tear. The test was completed without damage.

A very interesting convertion for governments, NGO’s or authorities worldwide to replace their polluting 4x4s. Waiting for years to buy a strong electric 4×4 car. But you already have it, paid for and driving within your organisation. Convert it to electric & clean and save 2/3 costs over its lifetime (TCO) as a bonus.
Manufacturers around the world are not going to build those for you in the near furture. The market is too small for it and development too expensive. So converting your existing 4×4 is currently the smartest and cheapest solution.

Isn’t any government just a collection of people who are living into society and also want to make the world less polluting?
Market
At the end of developments we are independent of any manufacturer today. We send our e-sets Worldwide. Owners are a lot cheaper to drive electric clean as a bonus. That’s where earning its investment back. Based on the TCO = total cost of ownership. Break even in 4 to 6 years. If you are not at all interested in the health of nature you can convert for your own wallet only.
Our market: all 4×4 cars of all brands that are currently running and will be built and sold in the next 20 years, with a fuel engine or a mild hybrid (which can only drive 80km/50miles electrically).
Our target cars is therefore from year 1965 of manufacture to 2050 including all 4×4 cars to be made. More on this further on the site. Old & New 4×4 cars.
The 1st start
We have been thinking about, since 2015, how to cleverly convert our own fuel-powered 4×4 Range Rover V8 into an electric-powered one. We have studied all the possibilities for one year. Started ‘retrofitting’ fuel-driven 4×4 cars to electric. That is, fossil combustion engine and gearboxes and petrol tank out, clean electro engine and re-used batteries in. Not only good for the environment, but also for the driver’s wallet.
Indeed, strong and rugged 4×4 powered on electricity only and proved cheaper to run than when fossil fuel is involved. We explain here on this site. A lot of information shared.
A rigorous step, we came to the following solution: build the added electric motor into the axle, not in the car. By far the highest efficiency between the battery and the road: 93%. A winner in comparison to other methods leaving all the gearboxes in and the differentials. We use smaller and less expensive batteries for the same range. And remember: all batteries are heavy, so less weight to carry. Less wear and tear is the result.
For all brands: the most interesting hurrah came later: tailored to all 4×4 vehicles is relatively easy to do. So, we certainly don’t do only Land & Range Rovers. With small modifications of the electric axle(s) fixing points, they are suitable & fit all off-road vehicles (car, SUV, trucks you name it) And modern independend suspentions will fit too.
CHANGE THE DRIVE NOT THE CAR to electric, what comes next:
Our engineering work is done. We are looking for additional financial support to start 50 axes to be made in one batch (saving 60% in cost per axle), then 70 in batch 2, then 100, then 500 etc. That could be with crowd funding, investors or just 10 friends willing to co-invest (purchase shares).
The worldwide customers are eagerly waiting at the door. This site has been viewed 750+ times a month now, and this number is increasing since January 2025. All fatigue-tests have been done, we have made several SRM e-motors. Proof of concepte, but not yet a 4×4 converted. We are ready to go all over the world. Summary
We sell worldwide our electric drivetrain sets, that can be firmly bolted into your 4×4 car, any 4×4 car in fact. At a small additional amount we supply bi-directional charging, heat-pump-based heating & airo. In all brands of 4×4 cars.
It is your choice which batteries we supply to you in our heated strong waterproof box. New or used, we work with NoWoS used data bank batteries that are also in hospitals as backup.
A new 2025 Toyota, see above? Even brand-new 4x4s that are now going to be made and delivered in decades to come, made to burn fuel in the furture. We will also convert these with our sets later. COSTS
We give the cost right on the 1st page: €34.000 for 2 electric axles and between €5.000 and €19.000 for the batteries driving 400km/250miles range into 85kWh storage. No need to ask the cost by email. More on page Prices & Specs.
For governments, 100km/60miles per day is often enough, hence the various battery packages. Driving 400km/250miles a day or more we do as well. You’re free to choose. You can even add range later, prices are already listed above.

Modern Toyota 4×4 (above) have independent front axle drive (with separate pitch axles) and and rigid rear axle. We can also supply those. The e-motor is the same, the attachment is different. We can converse every 4×4 car today.
e-Rovers
Sometimes we hear: “are we a green community?” if you read the information contained here. No, we produce and sell electric 4×4 drivetrains only (and battery boxes). But we do answer all the questions we got since 2016. That’s why we explain much more here than just the commercial talk. Climate technologies are often more efficient and cheaper than fossil fuels.

Brief explanation how we do it
Explained over 1 cup of coffee: “You have 2 axles (drive shafts) located between the (front and rear) wheels underneath an off road car. The two old axles will be swapped for our two new electric axles. It fits your car, tailor made. We put our electric motor into the centre of the axle. You understand that your internal combustion engine is no longer needed and will be removed. You are going to drive 100% electric from now on. You can also get rid of your gearbox, transfer box and the old drive axles, including the old heavy differentials (get melting down: re-use). Short time to assemble our set. Solid strong watertight bolting the heated battery boxe(s) safely between the chassis (no batteries in the car neither). The electric motor itself can also tailor made with drive shafts, which every modern 4×4 use, then the battery boxes are in the car. Because then there will be no more chassis. Another cup? “. High efficiency is the reason for this construction. This gives e-Rovers by far the highest result: 93% efficiency (=7%loss). Put any e-motor simply on the gearbox and keep the original drive, you will not get beyond 60% efficiency (=40%loss). Loads of internal resistances in these gearboxes. All those gear resistors eats your distance (range) you can drive away. (long explanation of the gearbox trap on the page Challenge & Why Electric) More at dealers info.
Note: all the amount of current you carry is called Kw and is fixed in the batteries. You have to carry 35+% more batteries to get as far as we do (because of the many resistors in those gearboxes left in the car by others). That is 35% more expensive and heavier and charging longer and is there room for it in the car? There is another important drawback to leaving the original drive system intact: it cannot handle the forces of the much stronger electric motors, and is thus more likely to fail. Our new shaft is designed to handle 3x more power. It will never fail.
1-line summary
Our unique 3 in 1 electric motor, the differential and the high and low gears also inside the stong body. The secret of our designers. This e-motor was not for sale and we developed and build them ourselves in the Netherlands, Europe. An unique advantage as a bonus. We won’t reveal here exactly how we manage that. That’s our secret. Patends pending. For all types and makes of 4×4 car, old and yet to be made.

Weights. Our electric motor weighs 76 kg, an original differential weighs 36 kg. Our aluminum axle weighs 21 kg less (than iron one) that leaves 19 kg additional unsprung weight. This is ok, after all a tuft of wet mud also weighs something like that. A change to aluminum rims instead of steel we reduce this to +6 kg in total. You can simply keep your original shock absorbers, brakes and springs/airsuspention. The handling remains exactly the same. In addition, more and more offroad tires are no longer re-inforced with a steel belt but with nylon, which again is lighter than steel.
Because we remove the fuel engine and all 3 gearboxes, radiator, tank etc. we use that 295kg of weightloss for 85kWh batteries (the long range package), we stay exactly the same curbweight as the original fuel car. With the small battery package we are even 100kg lighter than the original 4×4 car. A great result. (Kilogram to Pound: 1Kg=2.2Lbs)
“One complicated design made but a lifetime benefit of a lighter and less expensive battery, giving a great range to drive and a smaller battery also charges faster”, explains our team a bit more . In 2015, our team figured out what the smartest conversion should be look like. In doing so, we deliberately neglected to think about easy, fast, simple construction and lots of earning. Gave an additional advantage:
The work. Your own garage (or shop or dealer) around the corner can do the job, no matter where you live in the world. We ship the set in a strong box to you with a thorough installation manual. Aided by video explanations if needed. With the easy conversion job, you make huge saving on work hours to switch over:
Wrenching time: 1 or 2 days all iron out, 2 days our EV set in. Charging and drive clean. From toxic fuel to 100% electric driving. From the first day you also drive much 2/3rd cheaper per km/mile. That calculation is further down.

This financial advantage comes from building a large series at once.
Emissions
The average emissions of a 4×4 car with a fuel engine driving 15,000 kilometers (9,400 miles) annually , is over 6,600 kg of CO₂. More than twice as much as a passenger car. For example, 1 liter of gasoline releases about 2,270 grams of CO₂ while burning 1 liter of diesel releases 2,600 grams of CO₂. A 4×4 car consumes about 1 liter of diesel every 10km (6miles). With gasoline this is much higher: every 10km (6miles) about 6. This is a lot and very polluting, as you know by now. Note: there are about 1 million 4×4 cars on the road today. Every day. That’s a lot of pollution right? In addition to CO₂, there are many other pollutants released from combustion out of your car such as fine dust as particulate matter, NOx, methane and lead. Do something about it, it can be done.
We are currently having professional parties calculate the exact impact of our product on reducing pollution. These calculation includes making (re)use of the 4×4 car, battery and the materials to do the conversion. We are also looking at making the electric power. Calculations now give a factor of 90% cleaner than fuel driving. An important monitoring point today is the calculation of saved pollution per vehicle (rating for the same work done). Especially the calculation of exact how much it makes in pollution if you convert your 4×4 car to electric. While building a new 4×4 car or converting what we do. Brussels wants all lease cars electric
Lease cars and other commercial vehicles should become electric in the future, if it is up to Brussels. The European Commission is also allocating billions for battery production in Europe and innovation in self-driving cars. This is all part of a broad rescue plan for the European car industry, while keeping the ambitious green targets intact. (Source www.change.inc, 6 March 2025)
We are the only ones to have adopted this solution, why?
By far the highest efficiency between the battery and the road: 93%. We remove all the gears inbetween the fuel engine and the wheels, a big difference from others. But the most difficult to design and therefore very expensive and unclear when it has succeeded. We start almost 10 years back and have succeeded in this complicated design. Result: by far the highest efficiency. And for all branches too.
Gears only take power from the battery for nothing. Many gears are spinning around, all consuming energy. Halfway down the Challenge & Why Electric page we discuss in detail the gearbox.
We remove the fuel engine & gears offcourse. It frees up a lot of space and weight, that we use for our e-drive now. Our SRM-electric motor has power from standstill. We have high- and low traction and lock-up too. So all those old gear-boxes and differentials are no longer needed. So melter, circular again. Re-use. Our SRM electric engine is a beast, now tempered by today’s electronics. (more about power loss in gearboxes, page petrolheads Challenge & Why Electric)
We can drive an ample distance of 400 kilometres (250 miles) with a battery of 85kWh. We can incorporate all types of batteries. We are building a smart electric drive and not going into the battery business. You can read all about it here.

Where do we stand today?
There are millions fuel-powered polluting 4x4s driving around the world today. Within Europe alone there are 311,000 diesel fuming 4×4 cars driving around. Half of them are going to the scrap yard in the next 15 years. The other half have to be converted to electric (or petrol/gpl, same expenses to convert). We have a lot of questions from USA, Canada, NZ, Australia, Africa from everywhere for our EV sets. There are a lot 4x4s dirty fuel driving around the world today and also counting. You come across them on the roads every day, just look around.
Fuel burning is slowly coming to an end, whether we like it or not.
All fuel cars are going to disappear in time, including your beloved off-road vehicle. So take it to the scrapyard or convert it. We see no other options, including hydrogen or synthetic fuel. Those are totally in-efficient to make and to use properly in your fuel car as an alternative to batteries and drive electric. Read more about this further on.
You can buy plenty of interesting electric cars already now. But the rugged electric 4×4 cars are far from being available. Are you going to wait for that or take the bull by the horns as we say here.
Try to accept, you have to make a decision now, because continuing to drive on fuel is more expensive, dirtier, slower and you are shifting the problem into the furture. With our EV conversion you are immediately 2/3rds cheaper in TCO. Every day, every trip, year after year. (TCO=total cost of ownership)
The good news is that converting to electric 4×4 driving is cheaper, than continue to drive on fuel.
The high conversion cost of approx. 45.000 euro/dollar/pound you will get it back quick. With a re-used car life of another 25 years, you will be much cheaper 2/3rd or more every mile. A silent added value: half of your investment, comes right on top of the sales value tomorrow: you are selling an electric 4×4 and not a diesel 4×4 right? Every mile is cheaper than on fuel, so the investment comes back to the wallet a little every day. We are working (partnering) on a lease construction that you do not have to make the investment alone. Never buy fuel again, no more maintenance and often pay no road tax. Cheaper insurance.
Extra: your car now is also used as a extra home battery (solar, home storage, named bi-directional). This is speeding up your pay-back.

Home batteries: “I see the home battery as an indispensable part of the energy transition.” Reyer Gerlagh, professor of Environmental Economics at Tilburg University. He sees a big role for both battery parks and home batteries: the former at the national level, the latter at the neighborhood level. Households will switch more to stand-alone power plants. No longer dependent on public power.
In the furture fuel cars are rapidly declining in value, while electric cars remain stable, and your electric 4×4 car or truck is becoming even more valuable, as conversions are going to become more expensive in the coming years.
And also remember that the 4×4 car is not a general model, the reason why you ever bought it. You didn’t buy a Tesla or an Audi right? Apart from people whose work often requires them to drive in heavy terrain, their excuse: “I have to keep driving diesel because there is no strong electric 4×4 for sale right?”

Tailor-made for almost all types of off-road vehicles
Not only suitable for Land Rover’s or Toyota’s. Our set is for all existing 4×4 cars, from 1962 to today and also 4×4 cars still to be made in the future or not yet 100% electric (the mild-hybrids). We started this project electric in 2015 with own money to invest. Now we want to grow.

START PROJECT
The first ideas arose in our team in 2015 to run our own Land Rovers cleaner. No more little diesel particles spreading around and see the smoke in the mirror. Or gpl/gas fumes out of our Range Rovers V8’s. It must be an economically smart thing to do, so a reasonable pay back period.
All our lives (since 1977) we have driven Land Rovers and Range Rovers, so right away we found the name: e-Rovers
We tackle the conversion to electric rigorously, we do not simply bolt an electric motor to the gearbox. It is then easier and stronger, we discovered after calculating, to remake and redesign the whole shaft/axel, with the electric motor already in it. Your truck has 2 axels, front and rear, so 2 electric axels in one set.
Just replacing the fuel engine for an electro engine bolts on the gearbox, we rejected pretty quickly, because it leaves all the gearboxes intact and is technically more complicated to do than the way we choose. The car becomes too heavy, there is not enough space and where are the batteries going to be stashed away? Because of all these difficulties, this “easy” conversion is much more expensive.
Impact. We can make this set hundreds of times and send it around the world. Only then you make a big difference to make the world cleaner. Everyone has to do their part. We can make any 4×4 car 90% cleaner, this includes making the battery and solar to make and store electric power. Here we calculate over a period of 20 years from the day of conversion.
So, at the end of 2016 we started to designed and built our own electric motor, because the electric motor was not made anywhere yet. An additional advantage of building the electric motor in the company: we are now independent of any manufacturer, availability or geo politics. Nice to know. Our e-motor was finished in 2023, lavishly tested and ready to release.

Our kits are for all brands but also for the 4x4s that will still be made in the next 25 years on fuel or mild hybrid, from 1965 to 2050 is our target market worldwide.
Ultra briefly. The axel-set is produced entirely in the Netherlands and will be shipped worldwide. The converting is done at your local garage or shop in a few days. No high developing hours (costs) per truck is required anymore. Like to be a dealer, email us, we like having you “on board”.
How it feels. But how fast does it drive? Driving an EV offroad car is fun, more torque, stronger roadholding, lower centre of gravity, faster and silent. Clean with bonus: your 4×4 truck “feels” like it have 280 Horspower overnight.
Yes, finaly the convertion we wanted for ourself in 2015 is for sale today.
CIRCULAIR why?
Circular is about much more than separating and recycling waste. It’s about consuming less and producing better. We need to go from as much as possible to as little as possible, as long as possible and as valuable as possible. Because what we consume now has a much higher price tag than what it has now. Financing in the furture
“Sustainability is no longer an afterthought,” concludes Kurznack. “It has become a core part of the business model, both for banks and for their customers.” Why? Banks must not only become more sustainable themselves, but also guide their customers through these complex changes. This requires new strategies, in-depth knowledge and intensive collaboration. The EU’s Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) is just one of many new regulations forcing banks and their customers to be more transparent about their sustainability efforts. In particular, an investment such as e-Rovers need, is one where the knife can cut 3 ways (there are 3 big advantages in 1 deal).
Why us, at the forefront
The Netherlands are one of the most densely populated areas in the world and below sea level. We have too many cars, cows, pigs, chickens, iron- and chemical plants and tulips. Perhaps we feel the need doing something about global warming a bit more, even though we are a very small country. The sea is comming up because of heating up the earth … We are going to produce and supply these sets world wide, because:
